GENERAL INFORMATION:
Hydraulic shock absorbers are important components of a rail vehicle having a direct impact on driving comfort. They absorb the energy of the vehicle's dynamic loads and release it in the form of heat to the environment. Working with resilient suspension elements, they counterbalance their deformation, weaken shocks, and dampen the vibration in car, locomotive and tram bogies with suspension. They can be used in a vertical or angled arrangement, whereas the angle of inclination to the vertical plane of the shock absorber should not be less than 150°. If the shock absorber needs to be installed in an inclined system with an inclination angle of less than 150° or horizontally, a factory-fitted shock absorber for horizontal operation should be used.

METHODS OF MOUNTING SHOCK ABSORBERS ON THE BOGIE:
Depending on the type of bogie, we distinguish the following types of shock absorber mounting systems:

Sleeve (Metal-rubber bearing)

Pin

Rubber conical sleeve

Spindle (Rubber cushion)

TESTING - DAMPING FORCE TEST
Each shock absorber manufactured or repaired, depending on the type, is tested on the appropriate test bench in the position in which it actually works on the bogie.
The graph of damping force for each hydraulic shock absorber is recorded through the specialised test equipment software (full data archiving). The work chart of each shock absorber is part of the issued acceptance certificate 3.1 or 3.2 according to PN-EN 10204:2006.
